GPS designs, fabricates and installs fabric "canvas" awnings, metal awnings, metal louvers, fabric tension shades, shade sails, drop roller curtains, fabric covers, and other specialty items made with metals and fabrics. Not sure which one you need? Take advantage of our expertise – we'll make sure to design the best solution to meet your needs and be the most effective installation for your building.

The Strength Starts with the Frame

The awning hardware and fabric materials that go into each and every one of our products are strong and durable. We overbuild our frames with structural grade tubing, our frames are Mig welded at all connections and all tube ends are closed. We use the best fabric available such as Sunbrella® Fabric, we sew all our seams using Tenara Goretex thread, and we attach our covers to frames using several different techniques including lacing, teking and the SteelStitch staple system.

Our frame finishes vary depending on the needs and awning hardware requirements of our clients. The GPS preferred method is electrostatic powder coated finishes. Powder coating is the most attractive, longest lasting color coat that can be applied to metal frames. We also offer an industrial look with galvanized finishes and with a natural unpainted finish on our aluminum frames. Painting of frames can be utilized when color matches with the available powder coat color do not meet the customer's needs.

Why do we prefer powder coated frames, you may ask. Steel will rust when exposed to water and air. Paint when properly applied, will retard rust, but as we all know a painted surface needs repainting every few years. Powder coating however is often called a permanent finish. When properly applied a powder coated awning frame should look good for decades.

Expert & Professional Installation

Profession Installation starts with a thorough examination of the building or house to which the awning, sun shade or canopy will be installed. There are tried and true engineering standards that must be met and GPS will design products that cover all of these concerns. Installation of our awning hardware and awning frames is performed by the GPS team who use the most modern equipment available and adhere to the most stringent safety standards in the industry.

For example, the minimum frame to building fastener size utilized by GPS is 3/8", with larger sizes used if required by an engineering study, which will insure that the fasteners meet both the pullout and shear loads. This means that awnings installed by GPS will hold up to strong winds and will remain attached for the life of the building.

All building penetrations are sealed using Sikoflex sealants which will prevent water from penetrating into the building. The tops of all our awning frames are caulked using clear silicone sealants, which will prevent water from seeping down the wall behind the awning. GPS Specialty Construction takes these extra steps to insure the you, the building and home owner, have a product installed that meets and exceeds industry standards and provides you with lasting value.

GPS uses fabrics that carry a five year warranty for the fabric itself. GPS matches this warranty for its frames which goes beyond most company's standard one year warranty. Warranty work is rare and is taken care of quickly and efficiently. We take pride in the quality awning hardware products we install for our customers.
